Milestone for more competition on the German natural gas
market – long-distance network operators form a joint market area
The supra-regional pipeline operators Gasunie Deutschland, WINGAS TRANSPORT, ONTRAS - VNG Gastransport, DONG Energy Pipelines and StatoilHydro Deutschland announced today to consolidate their actual market areas in the course of this year. This co-operation will provide the basis for one highly competitive natural gas market in Germany. For the German household- and industrial- customers this means a lot more competition when they are going to choose their natural gas supplier in the future.
„With this co-operation we facilitate the gas transport in the future throughout property borders and give a crucial impulse to the competition in the German natural gas market. Besides we make a constant access to international grid tie points at the borders to our European neighbours Poland, The Czech Republic, Denmark, The Netherlands and Belgium for our customers possible“, explain the cooperation partners the new co-operation.
The co-operation partners have already introduced internal permission processes and they are confident that last open questions with the Federal Network Agency and the Federal Cartel Office can be clarified and that nothing more stand in the way
